Scripture clearly teaches us that Gods ways are different from ours. The more we take knowledge of Him the sooner our lives will resemble the Lord is in our life! (Isaiah 55:8,9) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Our Lord was set apart from the world right at the beginning of His life and would never deter from the will of His Father who sent Him! He was spoken of in the old and new testaments even before His birth. It was certain someone special was about to enter the world for a way of life that was different from the norm (Isaiah 9:2, 6-8), The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel. (John 8:28-29).
Joseph and Mary were amazed at the words spoken by a man named Simeon whom the holy ghost was upon, and his words spoke of their life changing child about to be born. He was to be a sign that would be spoken against, and how true this teaching was when reading throughout scripture of the reproach and suffering our saviour went through happened as foretold (Luke 2:25-26,33-35). And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Although the pharisees and sadducees followed their doctrine and to this day a lot of its practices are still in effect in many churches, Jesus taught us traditions and doctrines of men make void the word of God (Matthew 15:1-9). The faith and knowledge we have in Christ is different from the principles the world teaches. We are warned to stay away from false doctrines, and to walk close with the Lord (Colossians 2:6-9). As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
