Be Holy

People live most of their lives believing holiness is something just for God and His Son Jesus Christ, since we are flesh and sinful how could we ever be Holy in the eyes of God?  There is hope for all humanity to be Holy as God has asked us to be by repenting and turning from our sinful nature. (Colossians 1:21-23) And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you Holy and unblameable and unreprovable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.

God sets aside His people as Holy unto Himself, and we see this in the book of Leviticus when God lists what is an abomination to Him and what is Holy. When people turn from what they learn is against God then they become His people. (Leviticus 20:24-26) But I have said unto you, ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the Lord your God, which have seperated you from other people.Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have seperated from you as unclean. And ye shall be Holy unto me: for I the Lord am Holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

We are chosen by God even before the foundations of the world to be a Holy people who will serve Him (Ephesians 1:4-7) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be Holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin, according to the riches of his grace.

When the Lord returns and all material things have vanished, we are asked what manner of person will we be if all were removed? Will our conversations be of God and Holy? (2 Peter 3:10-13) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all Holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Even in the very last days just before the return of Christ we see in revelation that all people will be living as they have chosen, whether unjust or Holy (Revelation 22:10-13) And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is Holy, let him be Holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and O-meg’-a, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
