Some view the bible as people who were different from us, as though they were holier and God was somehow closer to them than He would be to us today. Truth be known people are people and the design of man has not changed since our creator formed us! Gideon did what many of us have done even today and that is when going through something and we feel distant from God, that we ask Him for a sign so we know that He has heard us…. Like in the story of Gideon and the fleece. (Judges 6:36-40). And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

Whether a sign is given to us in our modern day times, or we read of signs given in scripture from generations ago, God has always given signs for man to know who He is and that He is of His word. The disciples asked the Lord what would be the sign of His return, and with the hurricanes more devastating to the various earthquakes, tornadoes the signs are all around us! (Matthew 24:3-14) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

When Samuel annointed Saul he told him the Spirit of the Lord would come upon him and he’d be given another heart, and all the signs which He spoke came to pass as said! (1 Samuel 10:6,9). And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

We are given signs many times from above and some go unnoticed, yet they remain. (Genesis 1:14,15). And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

No Christian will ever forget the best and most beautiful gift and sign given to man for our Salvation! (Isaiah 7:14). Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? (Hebrews 2:3,4).
