The One True Church of Christ

The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. (Psalm 145:18,19).

For many to worship God it means they must go to church, but is that what Our Lord taught us to do? Oh sure there was a time when temples and churches of yesteryear were built to praise and worship God, but our Lord came to teach us of a better way to worship Him. Just as we see today huge mega churches that draw in thousands and who can forget Robert Schullers Crystal Cathedral talk about eye candy. Even as the people of many generations ago were enamored with their beautiful buildings our Lord Jesus Christ (Yahshua) taught of a one true church He would build in three days! It is that church we are to worship at today (John 2:18-21) Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.

Did you catch that “THE TEMPLE OF HIS BODY”. Man has long had faith in what he can see, but this is not true faith as scripture teaches the people of God have. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” As the people of God we are the temple which worships Him! (1 Corinthians 6:19,20) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

So at this point you may ask are we suppose to go to church then? If you are of the truth the answer is clear, as scripture teaches us we are a part of the spiritual church our Lord built in three day’s (1 Peter 2:3-10) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

So many religions claim to be the one true church, which is highly impossible seeing they all teach different belief’s and ways to God. Sadly man stubbornly has rejected God at every turn. From the Golden calf of Moses day to the many statues and images of our day, this plain truth to serve God in Spirit as He has asked of us has been taken lightly to serve idolatry! (Acts 7:48-51) Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things? Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

So how do we serve God without going to a building? Accept the truth of the word that we are the temple in which the Spirit of God dwells, and serve Him the way He has asked us to ( John 4:23,24) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

  1. “and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. ” I’m always baffled that such a simple concept is so hard for people to understand. Good post. Peace.

    • So true Chuck. Even scripture teaches that to follow Christ is so simple that people may be deceived because it is so simple. (2 Corinthians 11:3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

    • Exactly! Buildings have their purpose as a shelter from the elements without the ability to save. We could stand in our garage the rest of our lives and never be a car. 🙂
