People do not have power over us, for the Lord Himself has instructed us it is He who has the power to cast our soul into hell,a power no person has the ability to do (Luke 12:4,5). And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
When we know the Lord then our way of life will reflect Him, we learn what is pleasing in His eyes and not what is most pleasing to us. In the book of proverbs wisdom speaks and teaches us if we hate evil, pride and arrogancy it shows we have a reverence and fear of the Lord our God (Proverbs 8:12,13) I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
It is the rebellious heart that chooses to not fear the Lord,and is considered foolish to not want to know the Lords ways! It is that lack of fear which causes a person to continue in their sin and many times this way of life keeps good things from us (Jeremiah 5:21-25) Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:26,27).

Thank you for the good post, Julia. One of my favorite Bible verses is: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” It is a constant reminder for me.
Yes Chris great reminder! For me when I see those who band together for the wrong Proverbs 11:21 comes to mind.
Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. We are so Blessed to have the comfort of the word of God.
