Joshua was a man called of God after Moses passed away, it was up to him to bring the people unto Jordan. God promised him that he would be with him as he was with Moses. God said: “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give into them, even to the children of Israel. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so shall I be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them”.(Joshua 1:2,5,6).
To those who truly know the Lord God they are aware that their strength comes from God and with any battle they face they know it is the hand of God that brings to pass their victory over any enemy! The God of Joshua is the same God we serve today. “But cleave unto the Lord your God, as you have done unto this day. For the Lord hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love the Lord your God”.(Joshua 23:8-11).
When the people of God are sent to warn the wicked to turn from their wickedness to save their soul’s, it is God himself that knows what your up against and knows of the rebellion of the people of which he is sending you to. “Behold I have made your face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speaketh to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul”.(Ezekiel 3:8,9,18,19).
To have a strong Faith in God makes the road of life easier to bear, the Believer encounters, Miracles, Comfort, Great Joy, and a Peace that passes all human understanding, and a strength which only comes from the Lord as we learn in scripture of the strong Faith of those who have gone before us! “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jeph-thae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect”.(Hebrews 11:32-40).
Our strength and power comes from God and in weakness we are made strong in him! “For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth”.(2 Corinthians 13:4,8).
