We can be assured that God walked among men in the person of christ for it is written even before Abraham was Jesus was as he told the Jews of his day. “Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his sating. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am”.(John 8:53-58).
We find in the old Testament when Moses asked God who shall I say has sent me to speak to them, it is almost carbon copy as Jesus spoke of his Father so did Moses ask how to answer the people and it was the same God whose name is I AM! “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations”.(Exodus 3:13-15).
Could the Holy Spirit Jesus speaks of sending in the New Testament to those who follow him be the same of the Old Testament? There are passages that prove it is one and the same and this Spirit is the Holy Spirit of God himself! Jesus is known as the light of the world and was sent to this world of darkness. This great light was foretold of before Christ even entered the world. He said when we’re born again we shall be as a light in the world. “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined”.(Isaiah 9:2). We know that Jesus says his sheep hear his voice and follow him, But did you know God speaks the same of his people as a flock in the Old Testament? “Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Who hath directed the spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?”.(Isaiah 40:10,11,13). “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Fathers’ hand. I and my Father are one”.(John 10:27-30).
