“The Testimony”

first

The very first mention of the testimony that would be kept was given to Moses for the children of Israel who would then travel through the wilderness for forty years. “And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the Lord, to be kept for your generations. As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the testimony, to be kept”.(Exodus 16:33,34). Then God gave a command to build an ark for the testimony to be housed in to carry where ever needed as they travelled, and as they would set up a tabernacle God would come down from heaven and commune with man from the mercy seat above the ark. “And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cher’-u-bims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel”.(Exodus 25:21,22).

We see the foretelling of the testimony of Jesus in Isaiah just before he tells us also of the great light which is Christ!  Jesus is known as a stone of stumbling and rock of offence and even this was given us by the prophet Isaiah. “Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples”.
(Isaiah 8:13-16). “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined”.(Isaiah 9:2).
Then Christs precious word comes into the world with the testimony of his Father written on his heart and mind, who then would teach many as he preached to. Before he left he promised the very same Holy Spirit which was with him he would send to us as well for a comforter. John the baptist also fortold of our Saviour who would be bringing the word of God and his testimony which was not received except by those who would follow him is this testimony accepted! “Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true”.(John 3:28-33).
Never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is your life and promise of eternal life to those who believe! God Bless all who follow the Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.
