“A Happy People”

God’s people are a happy people as the joy of the Lord is their strength! There is so much tragedy within our midst today, yet our sovereign God tell’s us not to be troubled as his Son has already overcome this world. It does not take away the evil or wickedness that surrounds us, but the holy word of God does keep us no matter what we go through. David hid in caves and Paul was in a myriad of tragedies while others endured things unbearable only to keep a strong faith in the one they knew went before them. David’s word’s say it very well in this psalm. “I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord”.(Psalm 144:9-11,15).

It is written God’s way’s are not our ways’ and this is very true only because many think the gain of the world’s riches are the best one can have, yet the true riches of God will never perish and that is to fear God and to have his wisdom with understanding. “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her”.(Proverbs 3:13-18).

There is a peace to the people of God as they fear and love the Lord. He is the saving grace to all who turn to him with a repentant heart, but not so with those who are puffed up in pride as their happiness is a false joy. God has a book written of those who think on his name and he says it is those who will return and discern between those who serve him and those who do not. “And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not”.(Malachi 3:15-18).

Those who endure great conflict’s are able to see the big picture painted through the eye’s of faith and see that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, But not until our mission to do his service here on earth is done for his glory!
