It is written if one is not well learned in scripture they will twist it to their own destruction, this does not only destroy them but also those who are believing their words. (2 Peter 3:16,17). As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.Sadly there is a teaching out there where people are saying we are gods, and that is taken out of context from Psalm 82 where it is stating we are gods which is saying we are Gods people (we are his). Man will never be God! Scripture states man was created a little lower then the angels.(Psalm 8:4,5)…….Psalm 82:6. I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
We read of this truth in Jeremiah as if people believe themselves to be Lords, then they would have no reason to go to God, for this caused the people to actually forget God days without number! (Jeremiah 2:31,32). O generation, see ye the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee? Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
For anyone to think they are God would fill one with pride as the wicked do, as God is not in all their thoughts. (Psalm 10:3,4).
Sometimes people flock to any new religion that pops up out there, and have not the fear of God as their forefathers did, and thereby forgetting God who formed them and are a children who have no faith. (Deuteronomy 32:16-18). They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
