As Christians we know one day Christ the bridegroom will return for his bride the church. John was given the revelation of this most beautiful city of God the New Jerusalem. (Revelation 21:1-4). And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
How do we who love the Lord fit into such a place? Scripture tells us plainly what is allowed and what is not. Jesus even said if we love him we will keep the commandments. (Revelation 22:14,15), Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (John 14:15).
This most beautiful place is made with foundations of precious stones. Just as Solomons temple was built, he named the pillars which stood as the strength of the building and one day we too who overcome all the trials and tribulations of this life will be as a pillar in the temple of our God in heaven! (1 Kings 7:21), (Revelation 3:12). Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
God see’s us as precious stones that build up his spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5) and to those who overcome will be given a white stone and in it a new name given which no one knows except the one who receives it and as we previously read in revelation 3:12 that will be the name of our God and the beautiful city New Jerusalem, and the hidden manna his people are fed is Christ the bread of life. (John 6:58), (Revelation 2:17). He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. ( Hebrews 11:8-10,16 )
